What Islam Quran says about love marriage

In Islam marriage is considered a holy bonding between two people and it is encouraged for individuals to marry based on mutual affection, love, and compatibility. 

The Quran states in Surah Ar-Rum, verse 21: “And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquility with them, and He has put love and mercy between your hearts.” This verse highlights the importance of love and Emotion in a marriage. 

Moreover, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged love- and affection-based marriages. He explained: “If someone wishes to marry your daughter and you are comfortable with his religion and character, accept his proposal. If you don’t, there will be a great deal of corruption and temptation on earth.” This hadith encourages marriage based on love and character and stresses the significance of compatibility in marriage.

Shia marriage rules in Islam

As other community has some norms and rules of marriage same as Shia Muslims also have some rules of marriage. Hare, i mentioned some rules of Shia Muslim marriage. 

  1. Marriage contract: A marriage contract, sometimes referred to as a Nikah, is a legal agreement made between the bride and the groom with the aim of forming a marriage. The mahr (dowry), a present the groom gives the bride at the time of marriage, is mentioned in the contract.
  2. Guardianship: In Shia Islam, it is the father or the groom’s grandfather’s duty to stand as the bride’s guardian. The nearest male relative performs this duty if the father or grandpa is unavailable.
  3. Compatibility: In terms of religion, personality, and social standing, the bride and groom should all be compatible. To guarantee compatibility, the bride and groom have the right to meet before getting married.
  4. Witness: Two male witnesses must be present when the marriage contract is signed.
  5. Temporary marriage: Temporary marriages are allowed under Shia Islam, sometimes referred to as Mut’ah. This kind of marriage has a specified time frame, which might be anywhere from a few hours to several years.
  6. Forbidden relationships: Marriage between siblings, parents and children, and grandparents and grandchildren is not permitted. Getting married to someone who has already been married is also prohibited.
